(Vignette: Hunting Owl.).
(1). The start is at Tophill Low Bridge from where we go south (2) with the Beverley and Barmston Drain on our right. Our path is arboured in woodland before we emerge onto the western bank of the River Hull looking south. We then turn north (3) and continuing ahead we taken in a couple of views of the Baswick area on the River?s eastern bank (4). Soon however, we are approaching (5), the central area of the Tophill Low complex. It is winter and a hungry stoat tries and fails to keep its scavenging. Continuing along the western embankment, we then approach (6) the northern part of Tophill Low and arrive at a Pump House (7) by way of some very picturesque winter scenery. We then traverse west, and across a small footbridge over the Beverley and Barmston Drain, into the fields (8) above Standingholme Farm where we have an encounter with and owl before reaching a small area of woodland (9). Beyond this we veer northward through more fields in a bright autumn evening to reach the southern embankment of Scurf Dyke (10), from which we look to the west (11), before travelling east (12) to reach the River Hull New Cut (13), along which we travel south. At the southern end of the New Cut we pass through a gate (14) to be beside the Pump House once more. We continue south (15) with the Beverley and Barmston Drain to our right until we return to the Bridge at Tophill Low (16).
