Leven Canal Walk (First).

(Vignette: Walking west along the Leven Canal. Heron Flight. Deer. Reed Beds.).(1). Our start is just north of Sandholme Bridge at the gate onto the footpath leading west along the Leven Canal. We continue west along the canal and reach the Far Fox aqueduct (2). We cross the steel footbridge (3) that lies west of the aqueduct to view the canal beyond. We continue west until, on the Waterloo Bridge, we look first to the east (4) and see a pair of swans in windy weather before looking west and then travelling west, along the canal, as the gales continue. Soon we are at the old Lock where we turn north (5) and continue along the eastern bank of the River Hull. Eventually we are approaching Wilfholme and have a distant view of it from the south (6) ? and then from the north (7) ? before continuing on to reach Barwick Landing (8) where we leave the River and take the country road east toward Weatherill Farm from where we start south (9) onto Heigholme Lane. Continuing south along Heigholme Lane, we are approaching Heigholme Hall (10) and then by an easy ascent (11), we arrive at the junction with the road to Little Leven (12).
